This cartoon takes a humorous look at the familiar idea of “drinking to forget”.
It shows a barman addressing a customer with a wry expression, saying, “Next time you drink to forget, could you at least remember to pay your bar bill!”
The joke plays on the well-known phrase, twisting it cleverly to highlight the realities of running a bar – that however forgetful a customer might want to be, the bill still needs paying.
It’s a gentle and witty reminder of how human nature and humour often meet in everyday life.
Like many of my cartoons, it’s set in a familiar social scene and uses wordplay and timing to create an instantly recognisable situation. A simple one-liner, but one that always raises a smile.
Before you go, have a look at a few more of my favourites – “Football Managers Cartoon” always gets a smile, and “Make Sure Your Dating Request is Legible!” captures the fun side of modern romance.
