The Just A Card Campaign...

The JUST A CARD campaign aims to encourage people to support, value and buy from artists, designers, independent shops and small businesses by reinforcing the message that all purchases, however small, even 'just a card' are so vital to their prosperity and survival.

The campaign came about when Artist & Designer Sarah Hamilton saw the quote "If everyone who'd complimented our beautiful gallery had bought 'just a card' we'd still be open" by store keepers who'd recently closed their gallery.

So there's the concept. We all buy greetings cards for friends and family during the year. Maybe consider making a card purchase online from an artist such as myself? Many of my cards can be personalised to make them extra special!

Forget running down to the shops at the last moment to grab from a limited range of mass-produced greetings cards. Now is a good time to plan ahead and select cards that you will receive in good time, ready to send out to friends and family when the time is right!

Below I have links to three greetings card collections that I have in my Zazzle store. I hope you will take a look, and maybe buy a card or two that you can use in the future.

I will be very grateful. Thank you.

Cartoons can look Great on Notebooks. Have a Look...

Notebooks are a good vehicle for carrying cartoon illustrations. Often you can tie a cartoon that you have produced with a particular subject, and the image lends itself to being the feature on the cover.

Here’s an example of how I’ve promoted a notebook as a recipe book, and used a funny cartoon image I’d drawn. The type style complements it too, and that is deliberate. No surprise that I've already sold a few of this design.

Another great feature is that the buyer can make it personal by having their own choice of name.

Spider Displays a Notice to a Fly that Reads "Visit My Website"

One of my cartoons features a spider holding up a placard to a fly that reads: “Please visit my website”.

Spider and fly cartoon

It was printed in the Daily Star (UK) on October 6th, 1998. The humour comes from the clever visual pun – spiders naturally catch flies in their webs, so turning that into a modern joke about a website makes it immediately funny.

The juxtaposition of a spider’s predatory instinct with a human-like appeal to online visitors is a simple but effective gag that resonates with readers.

This cartoon is ideal for print on cards or merchandise, offering a playful nod to both internet culture and classic visual humour.
