I drew this cruise ship cartoon left-handed as an experiment. (I'm right-handed.)
The reason I did this was because of a weekly cartoon caption competition that was being run by the CCGB (Cartoonists Club of Great Britain) on their forum. That week, contributors were challenged to draw their entry using the opposite hand to the one they normally use.
The caption was set, and cartoonists had to come up with a suitable gag idea to fit. I didn’t win that week, but I really enjoyed the test – and I quite like the way my drawing turned out!
I eventually used my cartoon on a number of goodies on my Zazzle site. You can see more items from my cruise collection via this link >>
Pictured above is the cartoon I drew left-handed. Drawing with my other hand didn’t come easily, but the “loose” effect of the linework is a style that I really like.

Drawing with your opposite hand can be a challenge – but an interesting one at that!

This cartoon of mine is a pun on the famous musical work Water Music by George Frideric Handel.
The cartoon shows a man playing a grand piano with sheet music titled “Handel’s Water Music”.
Water is dripping from the piano and forming a puddle on the floor - a light-hearted visual twist on the name of the composition.
Handel’s Water Music was originally composed for an outdoor royal celebration on the River Thames in London for King George I in 1717.
It was performed by an orchestra of around 50 musicians on a barge positioned near the king’s boat.
The music was so well received that it was played three times during the event.

Here is a cartoon of mine which shows a man in a greenhouse being towed by a car and caravan.
It’s one of those playful, slightly absurd scenes that make you do a double-take and smile.
I wrote an expanded post about this cartoon in another blog article >>

Cartoon of a Doctor who says, "Please don't confuse your internet search with my medical degree".
The example shown below is printed on a fun Coffee Mug – a great gift for doctors, GPs, medical students or anyone who works in healthcare.
If you’ve ever worked in a medical setting, you’ll know the humour in this cartoon rings true!
It captures the light-hearted frustration many professionals feel when patients bring printouts of online diagnoses to their consultations.
This design has proved popular with doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who appreciate a bit of good-natured wit in their day.

Skydivers are about to land in a field full of sheep. But are the sheep welcoming?
Skydiving is one of those pursuits that perfectly blends fear and freedom into a single exhilarating experience. It’s a hobby that attracts adventurers, adrenaline seekers and those simply curious about what it feels like to fly.
At its heart, skydiving is beautifully simple – you jump from an aircraft thousands of feet above the ground, free-fall for a breathtaking few seconds or minutes, then glide gently back to earth beneath a parachute.
But for enthusiasts, it’s so much more than that. It’s about pushing personal limits, conquering fear, and feeling completely alive.
The first leap is usually a tandem jump, where a beginner is securely harnessed to an experienced instructor. This allows newcomers to experience the thrill of freefall without worrying about the technical details.
From there, many people go on to take formal training, learning how to pack their own parachutes, control their descent, and even perform mid-air manoeuvres.
As skills improve, so does the range of experiences – from solo skydives to formation jumps with groups of friends or club members, often set against stunning backdrops of countryside, coastlines or mountains.
Modern equipment and training have made skydiving remarkably safe, though the rush of adrenaline never fades.
Many skydivers describe a sense of peace during freefall, a calm focus where everything else in life seems to disappear. The moment the parachute opens, the experience shifts from high-speed excitement to serene, floating beauty – a chance to take in the landscape and savour the moment before landing gently back on the ground.
For hobbyists, skydiving quickly becomes more than a pastime – it’s a lifestyle. Clubs around the UK and beyond host regular jump days, social events, and competitions, building strong friendships among people who share a love of adventure.
Whether you jump once for the thrill or return again and again to chase that perfect freefall, skydiving offers a unique combination of challenge, exhilaration and freedom that few other hobbies can match.
You can see a range of gift items I have produced on a sky diving theme in my Zazzle Collection here. I hope there are gifts in this collection that you'll love to give to any parachutist or sky diver in your life.
